Photosynth Is Amazing

Photosynth hit the web in a hugely popular TED video in 2006. Now two years later the product that many of us saw in the demo has finally come to fruition.

I must say that originally when I saw this product I could see no way that this could ever live on your machine. The computing power that it would take to combine all those images into a viewable selectable grid must be enormous. The team at Microsoft figured out how to take something enormous personalize it. I cannot wait to see this service grow into something you can collaborate on. Maybe integrate some Geo Tagging that would allow you to search for a synth that was done in the area you took you pictures. Then you could add your shots to the synth. For tourism the aplicaitons could be enormous. Places like New York and other national landmarks could really be visited without the viewer ever stepping foot there.

Photosynth to me could be the new technology that puts Microsoft at the forfront of inovation once again.

Here is a little demo I did.

Zach Scott

Okay I am new to this blogging thing so if this is not a detailed enough bio then that is just tuff. My name Zachary Scott but my friends call me Zach and many other names. I live in Seymour, Tennessee which is a suburb of Knoxville, Tennessee. Growing up in East Tennessee has created a sort of love hate relationship with the University of Tennessee, so many of the rants on this site with pertain to my beloved Vols. I have had a life long obsession with anything you could plug into the wall but most of all computers. I have been working in Information Technology for about five years now and do anything you could think of that relates with technology. So again this may color some of what you see on this lowly blog. I hope you enjoy what you see and subscribe to the feed.
